I always try to find new ways to make classic drinks. This summer, there are a few that I’m really in to and one of those is the classic gin & tonic. I really loved coming up with this fresh spin on a traditional drink. I think grapefruit is the perfect citrus and super refreshing on hot days like the ones we’ve been experiencing and the rosemary gives it the perfect earthy undertone! This is definitely my go-to summer drink for 2018.
This cocktail is perfect for any occasion (not just summer exclusive) and everyone who has tried it, absolutely loves it! I used Prairie Organic Gin because it is one of the first USDA Certified Organic spirit brands and remains the #1 brand in the organic category, and you can really taste the difference. Prairie Organic knows the source of every ear of organic corn that goes into their bottles: Minnesota family farmers who have a commitment to the right process and the right ingredients. The quality of the ingredients you use is important because that will reflect in the final product! Using the best ingredients possible really changes the outcome. Prairie Organic Spirits has a distinct, unique, award-winning taste that its distillers and farmers have worked hard to differentiate.
RECIPE:
- 2 oz Prairie Organic Gin
- 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- 4 oz tonic water
- 1 rosemary sprig
DIRECTIONS:
- Add ice to a glass.
- Mix grapefruit and Prairie Organic Gin and pour over ice.
- Fill to top with tonic water.
- Add rosemary sprig to garnish (and taste).
This cocktail is perfect for any summer occasion: picnics, BBQs, bonfires, etc. If you want to make the cocktail ahead of time, you can make a pitcher of the Prairie Organic Gin and grapefruit juice, add some of the rosemary sprigs, and then just pour into glasses with ice and add the tonic at the end (to ensure maximum fizziness) when ready to be served! Let me know what you guys think if you make this cocktail!
